Curious about Cloud Computing?

CWPS demystifies the next big thing in IT

Although not an entirely new concept, cloud computing is a buzzword you'll be hearing a lot more about. Essentially, it involves the delivery of hosted computing power, software and client services over the Internet. Cloud computing is closely associated with online applications also known as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), whereby the applications reside at a server on the Internet and are accessed by users as needed. SaaS has proven to be very attractive as a cost saving measure for many of our customers.

The characteristics of cloud services include …

- Sold on demand, typically by the minute or the hour

- Elastic in that a user can have as much or as little of a service as needed at any given time

- The service is fully managed by the host provider and has built-in reliability

- Users can access the services from any location similar to the way they can access hosted email like Microsoft Exchange.

In cloud computing, the host vendor supplies the hardware infrastructure and the software product. Users interact with the service through a front-end portal - a browser, for instance, or a "computing appliance" that is simple to use and can be connected out of the box.

A public cloud is available to anyone with access to the Internet. A private cloud is a closed network that supplies centralized, hosted services to one organization or a defined group of users. Private or public, the goal of cloud computing is to provide easy, scalable access to shared computing resources and IT services.

Centralized resource sharing limits the investment required to gain access to powerful, enterprise-class business applications.  This is particularly helpful to SMBs with limited budgets and internal IT resources.  Cloud computing promises to level the IT playing field for smaller businesses.

As your IT evolves, CWPS experts are ready to share their expertise at your planning table. Give us a call: (877) 297-7472 or email connect@cwps.com
